Offensive Woes Continue in 2-0 Loss
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
The Rams' offensive woes continued Monday as they lost to Shepard 2-0. This marks the second consecutive game Reavis has been shut out. On Saturday, they fell to the Bolingbrook Raiders 7-0. The loss drops the Rams to 12-8 and 5-4 in SSC Red play, three-and-a-half games back of the division-leading Astros.

"We have been really struggling at the plate over the past few games," said Coach Erickson. "Hopefully, we can break out of this funk we are in soon." The team batting average, which had been hovering around .300 all year, has sunk to a season-low .273 after yesterday's game.

Even though Reavis could only muster three hits off Shepard starter, Spongberg, they still had an opportunity late in the contest to get on the board and tie the game. Down 2-0 in the seventh inning, they loaded the bases with one out on Robert Waddell and Edgar Ledesma's walks and Jesse Flores's bunt hit. However, the Shepard third baseman speared Mike Falbo's line drive and doubled up Waddell at third to end the game.

Starter Dennis Beauregard (5-2) was a bright spot for the Rams. The senior pitcher, who had injured his knee in Friday's win over Rich Central, threw well in the loss. He completed the game, allowing one earned run on seven hits and striking out four Astros.
